Just discovered this band. Troupeau bleu is brilliant, not a dodgy track on it. Rates among the best jazz funk I've heard. I listen to it and I'm in beautiful France again.
So amazing to discover this hidden gem of a band from my home country, not to mention the source of the samples behind three of my favorite rap artists! Love love love. Thank you.
Why would you even mention Khalifa or Ross in the same article as Cortex or Doom? Even Khalifa's producer shouldn't get much credit for ripping DOOM/Madlib's selections let alone make the insipid statement that "One Beer' is somehow inferior. Are you high?
Madlib sampled Huit Octobre first on the Jaylib album. Great Dilla verse on that one. Tyler the Creator also sampled it a year before Wiz did on Odd Toddlers from Bastard.
