On Friday I shared a list of 30 jazz and jazz adjacent albums that are, for the most part, lesser-known, obscure, or forgotten. The reaction was great so I decided to share another list of album recommendations that started out as a Twitter thread.

This time the focus is ‘80s funk. The albums included below are either mostly funk or have funk elements in some of the songs. The focus here was to collect music from one decade/era, so the picks range from obscure to well-known.
