Micro-Chop Needs Your Support
An overview of how you can help and some links to my recent work.
If you want to support Micro-Chop you can follow me on Spotify and subscribe to the newsletter and YouTube channel. You can also buy me a coffee.
Hi all. I’m asking a favor — if you support Micro-Chop on here and/or Twitter, please consider contributing $1 to my work.
I turned off paid subscriptions to my newsletter years ago and the only way for me to generate revenue is through contributions from my generous supporters and occasional freelance work. Any and all contributions are greatly appreciated.
All payment methods are linked in the Micro-Chop Linktree. This includes my Buy Me A Coffee page, Cash App, PayPal, and Venmo.
In recent years I’ve been most active on Twitter, though that may change soon. I wanted to highlight some of my work in case you’ve missed it or need a refresher.
Became an official creative partner with the record label Old Soul Music, which is a very exciting honor. As part of my work with the label acclaimed producer Ohbliv and I started the smooth jazz playlist Curious World, which we curated together.
Created The Micro-Chop Monthly playlist series on Spotify and YouTube. I’ve made a new playlist every month since July 2022 and have shared thousands and thousands of songs across many eras and genres. You can check out the full archive here.
Created the Sample Ideas: Songs People Haven't Sampled Yet playlists on Spotify and YouTube. Read a little bit about the playlist here.
Curated the Not on Streaming/YouTube Only Joints playlists on YouTube, which feature out-of-print songs that can only be found on Discogs and/or YouTube. Volume One has close to 4,000 views.
Shared hundreds of Twitter threads organized by era, genre, producer, sample source, and other themes. You can see over 200 of my threads that lead to playlists here or check out a more recent album thread with over 1,000 bookmarks here.
Started the Less Than 1,000 Spins and Formerly on Less Than 1,000 Spins playlist/project on Spotify and YouTube. Read a brief description here and check out the Linktree here.
Since calling out Spotify CEO Daniel Ek on Twitter, 86 of the 455 original songs selected for the Less Than 1,000 Spins Spotify playlist have broken 1,000 plays. I’ve started a Twitter feed where I regularly share Songwhip links from the playlist so people can listen on any platform.
The Formerly on Less Than 1,000 Spins playlist continues to grow almost daily as more and more songs break 1,000 plays.
I commissioned an exclusive guest video mix of songs from the playlist from Kenan Bell, a collaborative Less Than 1,000 Spins sample-flipping livestream with DJ Manipulator, and an article from esteemed writer John Morrison about 45 King’s Grooves For A Quiet Storm, which has a song featured on the playlist. I also have an additional Less Than 1,000 Spins-related guest article in the works with Arielle Lana Lejarde, another highly respected music journalist.
There’s more, but that’s probably a good starting point, so I’ll stop there.
As always, thank you so much for your support. It seriously means the world to me. Until next time, take care and thanks again.
